One of my neighbours married his son, Kamal, to a girl, Kavitha, who was a successful sales professional. They expected her to be an ideal type of daughter-in-law. They simply disliked the idea of her continuing to work; they also dislike her meeting new men folk every day. Fuel was added when her clients called her even on holidays. It had already been settled at the time of marriage that she would continue with her hob, as Ramesh did not eam enough for their future. Now, Kamal’s mother started expressing her unwillingness to kamal. Kamal, who loved his mother very much, advised Kavitha to discontinue with her job. Kavitha agreed, but she was very intelligent and prudent. Instead of resigning from her job, she persuaded her boss to give her a six-month leave without pay and promised to join much earlier. As soon as her salary stopped, Kamal found it hard to meet the expenses of the family and saw kavitha getting more irritated and lethargic. Though his mother resisted Kavitha’s re-joining at the job, Kamal convinced his mother. Now both of them are leading their life happily and working successfully at their own professions.
