The beauty of wife and partially the disparity between the tow halves in a couple was a constant source of discussion. There was a gap of about 10 years in the age of two. Mr Sinde was a round shaped, bald and dark complexioned man from a very orthodox family while Mrs Sinde was a trim and slim, graciously beautiful and ‘talk of the town’ woman from a progressive family. She was so beautiful that most of the males in the colony wished to be seen in her company. No doubt, the females in the neighbourhood of the society were jealous of her. But all was not well with the couple. Mr Sinde was a jolly and kind husband who spent much of his time with the family. They had a son who was brilliant and healthy. Though both were very well behaved, polite and respectful to each other, Mr Sinde and Mrs Sinde had not visited their respective in-laws for more than a decade. There were some tensions at the time of the marriage and since then Mr Sinde had stopped talking with his in-laws and then after a year or so, Mrs Sinde retaliated in the same manner. Each visited only his or her own family. They were not talking terms with each other’s families. For some years people tried to medicate but all was in vain.
