OXYGEN

Posted by James Edwin Tuesday, October 11, 2011

The only real indication for oxygen therapy in cardiac disease is when the arterial oxygen saturation is reduced, e.g. in cardiac failure with pulmonary congestion or with associated disease of the lungs, or in myocardial infarction with shock. The need for oxygen is usually indicated by the presence of central cyanosis which however may be masked by shock or anemia. For details of administration see.
